Are you a social media addict? or an enthusiast, rather. Take a look at this entry-level offering which aims to cater your likes and shares on facebook with the Cherry Mobile FB100.
Table of Contents
Design
The FB100 just grabs your attention with its all blue removable backing that is made up of polycarbonate design. What can be seen at the back is the 8MP rear camera with LED flash, the cherry mobile moniker and the loudspeaker at the bottom portion. Its front is a standard affair with the chin housing the physical facebook logo button. The power button though is awkwardly relocated at the left side while the volume button remained at the right side. Up top sits the headphone jack and at the bottom is the micro USB port.
The color of the handset really stands out and the physical button adds to the facebook theme. However, handprints are easily attracted to its plastic shell and the button is used only to post a quick status. Overall, despite its standard design, the color and its physical button separate it from other smartphones.
Display
Sporting a 5.0-inch 720p IPS LCD display, its viewing experience is enough for users who just love to scroll through their newsfeed. Color reproduction is accurate but with a reddish hue.
Camera
Camera-wise, the 8MP shooter with LED flash is sufficient for casual users. Don’t expect the eye-catching photo to be posted on your social media account though and a steady hand is needed in order to capture sharp images.
Outdoor shots are pretty standard with good color reproduction and overexposed bright areas. In some condition, the images are washed out. Same story can be said in indoor shooting with pale colors.
Low-light shots produced noise on the image with blurry details while night shooting will only show lights on the photo.
Recording with its 8MP rear camera can take up to 1080 in 3gp format that leans to underexposed video.
The 5MP selfie camera gave us a claustrophobic shot with pale colors.
Performance
Under the hood is a MediaTek MT6580 SoC 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB RAM. Expect the device to run smooth at first but once you’ve installed several applications, add to it the background apps, performance experience will start to go down south. Just like its design, the handset is intended for facebook users.
Battery
The removable 2000mAh battery was able to withstand 28hours of standby time with 4hours of screen-on-time. Charging from zero to one hundred percent will take you almost two hours.
Audio
The loud speaker found at the back of the device is nothing special as it is sufficient for killing time if you don’t have anything to do.
Pricing and Verdict
Cherry Mobile FB100 is priced at Php2,999 and clearly, this Facebook-centric phone is aimed at casual users who spends most of their time in swiping across their news feed, sharing and liking posts. Looking for a phone just for facebook, this is the smartphone for you.
