The names of the three local telecomm companies to be official partners of Android One in the Philippines were announced. Globe, Smart and Sun Cellular will be working with Google initiative in bringing low data-plan costs. Here are some of the pre-released conditions of Smart and Sun Cellular regarding the use of Android One.
For Smart, there will be FREE mobile data for Android updates and app downloads.
When using Smart PostPaid and PrePaid SIM cards with Android One, you can upgrade to the latest version of Android without paying any data for the download (up to 100MB/month), and apps downloaded from the Google Play Store will not get charged to data usage (up to 200MB/month). For Smart PostPaid, you also enjoy P100 of calls & texts, and for Smart PrePaid, you will have 50MB/month of free internet data.
As for Sun Cellular, there will also be FREE Android updates, app downloads, and data.
With this Sun PostPaid SIM card, you can upgrade to the latest version of Android without using up any data (up to 100MB/month). Apps downloaded from the Google Play Store will not get charged to data usage (up to 200MB/month), and you can enjoy unlimited Sun calls & texts and 250 texts to other networks.
Meanwhile, Globe has not yet released its terms and conditions.
