HTC U Ultra goes official
As expected, the Taiwanese company officially introduced their next flagship smartphone, the HTC U Ultra.
The new flagship of HTC sports an all glass design that is very eye-catching thanks to its glossy surface or as HTC calls it, ‘Liquid Construction’.

We have seen this with Apple’s iPhone Jet Black and White but the U Ultra is a bit different.
Liquid Construction
Liquid Construction is the process of creating a liquid-like surface for the phone, thus creating a very glossy effect. Too bad, it’s not water-resistant.
The company also boasts that is should create an entirely different feeling when holding the device. Let’s just hope it’s not as slippery when water is present.
Secondary Screen
Apart from the design, HTC also added a secondary screen, a 160 x 1040 resolution on the top portion for notification, music playback and such while most of the front panel is occupied by the 5.7-inch QHD 1440p Super LCD 5 with Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Its processing power is not to be underestimated as it comes with Snapdragon 821 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal storage.
Surprisingly, there is a microSD card slot included that allows up to 2TB of memory.
Despite the growing numbers of dual-camera setup, the main camera is using a single 12MP f/1.8 UltraPixel 2 PDAF sensor while being accompanied by 16MP BSI front-facing camera.
It will be running the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box while being powered by a 3000mah via USB Type-C.
HTC Sense Companion
One of the main highlights here would be the enhanced AI that HTC has incorporated to this device.
These ‘enhancements’ predict your daily habits and help the user by suggesting things you need to do like dressing up for a cold weather … or some sort.
It can also unlock your phone even when the display is off via voice authentication.

Bye headphone jack, Hello USonic
Before you know it, it’s gone. And that’s exactly what HTC did with the headphone jack.
Removing the audio jack paved the way for HTC USonic earphones that transmits sound using sonic waves that only USonic is capable of, not even USB Type-C.
Limited Edition ‘Sapphire Glass’
There will be a limited edition HTC U Ultra that sports a sapphire glass screen with 128GB of storage, however, this is to be expected at a later date.
HTC U Ultra will be coming in Black, Blue, Pink, and White colors and will become available in Taiwan by the end of January for a price of $749 or Php37,000 while global distribution will start in March.
