Since it’s affordable, don’t expect too much from this smartphone.
Below Average Specs
The Huawei Y5 2017 features a 5.0-inch 720p display that will benefit from its 3000mAh battery. Huawei even touted its 1.5days battery life in a single charge with an 80% percent capacity retention rate after 800 cycles.
The biggest power drawback in the battery, of course, is the MediaTek 6737T quad-core chipset. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.
Still Marshmallow
Huawei Y5 2017 already runs under EMUI 4.1 on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, leaving some buyers scratching head as entry-level smartphone rarely gets updates.
Camera wise, an 8MP sensor supports the point and shoot photography while a 5MP front facing sensor handles the selfie game.
Uniquely Designed
Spec-wise, it does not offer something special so Huawei makes it up with the design. It’s normal for 5-inch smartphones to be handy but the Y5 2017 makes it more handy to use with its soft curvature corners, textured body – featuring a unique CD pattern around the camera lens and the CNC (Computer Numeric Control) crafting process at the bottom. Whatever that means.
The Huawei Y5 2017 shines in Gold, Pink, Blue, White, and Gray colors. It’s pricing and availability date still remains in the dark so we just have to wait till Huawei officially announces the smartphone.
