The popular writing app iA Writer made its debut on Android today, as announced by the developer Information Architects.
The writing app used to be exclusive in iOS and Mac only, but is now made available for Android though the team was concerned over Androids openness and the potential for piracy. However, Information Architects has come to appreciate the platform’s open nature by stating on its blog post:
“So far, the downsides of Android’s openness have been offset by the friendly, multifaceted culture around Android. Solid documentation from Google, the good people at Stack Overflow, our seven nation army of beta testers, the prospect of staged rollouts any time, a fully integrated testing process in the Play Store. Throughout our Android experience, we have seen a cheerful thankfulness towards developers long gone on the Apple ecosystem.”
iA Writer boasts simple, clean and clutter-less writing experience that it provides to users. The app is now available on Google Play which provides descriptions such as:
- Focus Mode that lets users concentrate on the current sentence
- Use Markdown to let users format documents without taking their hands off the keyboard
- Custom typeface optimized for writing
- Polished for easy and clear utilization
- No complicated interactions
- Seamless Dropbox sync
The developers also revealed about the plan to rebuild the app for a new OS. iA Writer is now available in Google Play for $4.99, you can grab it for $4.99.
