Philippine Telegraph & Telephone Corporation (PT&T) had claimed that they will regain their status as a major telecommunications force in the Philippines. Nickel Asia Corporation co-founder Salvador “Buddy” Zamora I, which is the current chairman of PT&T also said that they will focus on fixed broadband across the country.
As of now, they are looking for a possible international strategic partner to aid them in expanding their business. In which, India’s Joi, owned by India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani of Reliant Industries and China Telecom may be possible.
PT&T then sees themselves to side by the top competitors PLDT and Globe Telecom in the future. They are also now seeing to lift their 13-year suspension of trading its shares to avoid any further delay. Stay tuned for updates!
“[PT&T] intends to expand our existing businesses across the country. For this purpose, the firm will set up a nationwide fixed broadband network and is looking at entering into agreements with various government agencies to help achieve this.”
