After Apple posted their public apology on their website, two of the biggest smartphone companies confirmed that they don’t slow older phones with older batteries, just like what Apple admitted. Apple called it a strategy to prevent unexpected shutdowns.

LG stated, “Never have, never will! We care what our customers think.”
“Product quality has been and will always be Samsung Mobile’s top priority. We ensure extended battery life of Samsung mobile devices through multi-layer safety measures, which include software algorithms that govern the battery charging current and charging duration. We do not reduce CPU performance through software updates over the lifecycles of the phone.”, said Samsung.
It’s actually pretty good that Apple wants to extend the life of its smartphones, but they should’ve informed their users. Also, maybe they should find a way to prevent the shutdowns without sacrificing the battery.
As there is still no information if Apple is going to stop the strategy, it may seem like they’re still going to continue the said practice with the future iPhones.
