A reader of ManilaShaker, @gelopotzz asked me on Twitter about switching from Sky broadband to PLDT. Upon checking out the current plans of PLDT and SkyCable, we found out that SkyCable has the fastest and cheapest internet, all for P999, service in the Philippines at the moment.

And compared to PLDT’s Plan 999 Home DSL with max speed of 1Mbps, Sky Cable Broadband offers unlimited data too. Other close alternative to Sky Cable is Globe Tattoo Plan 1099 which offers up to 2Mbps speed with unlimited streaming and downloads also. I think the next best Plan to Sky is the Globe Tattoo Plan 1099.

Of course, each has bundled services like for Globe and PLDT they offer landline and free calls within their network. In the case of Sky Cable as TV cable provider, you get an optional hook-up to their cable channels by adding P99 on top of you broadband bill.
Ping, Latency and Reliability
Few factors you would consider in applying for home or business internet plans are ping/latency and reliability. Both ping and latency can greatly affect your internet speed despite having the fastest bandwidth. Right now, we don’t have the numbers on which provider has the slowest or highest latency rate. Only thing we can assure is that that these wired connections are more stable and reliable than wireless ones e.g. 4G LTE or 3G HSPA.
All these offers have unlimited data cap so it means you get to torrent tons of movies, TV series, game installers and PC softwares up to the last megabyte of your data storage.

Globe doesnt offer unlimited data anymore either for the DSL or the wireless home broadband. Check it out on the tattoo website.

it’s not the fastest, I have sky cable 8mbps the connection is always slow and most of the time its down.. My ping always ranges around 500ms to google. plus they block my most trusted speed test site which is speakeasy. They cheat their speedtest with speedtest.net!

For me it’s the fastest and affordable. lately there’s connectivity issue but I’m hoping it’s just maintenance. I Hope that they can fix it soon -_- It’s almost 1 week. I’m here around Cubao area.

I had the same issues as well with SKY’s 3mbps… first 2 months I had no problem with it 3rd to 12month it became intermittent usually the hours of 10am to 1am connection seems to drop and I think that the speed test.net is bullcrap coz its keeps on getting almost 3mbps and a low ping yet the connection is really unstable that gets you disconnected every few minutes. do I need to up my connection to 8mbps for it to have sa stable connection?
Hi.. Mayron na akong sky cable pero walang internet cable lang talaga 299. Ngayon gusto ko mag upgrade with internet ang magchange na din ng location magkano kaya ang babayaran ko updated naman ako sa monthly bill ko.. Please help before ako tumawag sa costumer service..
