Virtual-Reality

Smartphones are so powerful that it can act as a sub-laptop. Same can be said with VR, and running it is no joke. VR app is basically running two application at the same time. Support for VR, however, are still limited for the time being but with the Launch of Google Cardboard and larger support for development, companies have no choice but to make VR as a requirement.

Wireless Audio

We have seen Bluetooth speakers for some time now so why not continue this trend with smartphones, a dumb idea? ‘probably but what the heck‘ – Apple. Anyways, we have seen this with iPhone 7 and companies like Samsung, LeEco and Motorola are also about to follow this trend.

Augmented Reality

AR is not new but incorporating this feature with smartphones will aid in making devices smarter and more immersive. We have seen this in Lenovo Phab 2 Pro via Project Tango. Should consumers accept this positively, we might see a new use for phones. The idea is great but expensive to create.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth 5 is about to replace Bluetooth 4.2 and we might see this starting with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8. The stronger and better wireless connection will be relevant as companies start to go wireless with their device, even cars, and home appliances are connected wirelessly so we can see that Bluetooth is headed in the right direction.

Slim Design

We don’t want thinner phones with fewer features. But that’s what manufacturers are pushing when it comes to smartphones, starting with the headphone jack. As they get slimmer, edge to edge display is also becoming more attractive in the market. Another trend that we are seeing now is the support for dual-camera setup for better image quality.

Are you looking forward to these trends too? If you have something to add up to the list then feel free to share them in the comment section.
