Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 616 617 Speed Benchmark

All chips have been out but what’s changed over its predecessor? We compare Qualcomm’s latest and older mid-range chipsets the Snapdragon 615, 616, and 617. See some benchmark scores and rankings below.

The Snapdragon 615 chip or SoC (System on a Chip) became popular last year as it has powered notable Android mid-ranger smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy A8.

Powering the latest budget Xiaomi Redmi 3, the SD 616 brings very little improvements over the SD 615. The lower quad-core processor is now clocked at 1.2GHz while 64-bit is standard to support up to 4GB RAM.

The more powerful chip, as the name suggest, is the Snapdragon 617 which powers the likes of Samsung Galaxy C5. Its octa-core processor is clustered to 8 equivalent core with 1.5GHz max speed. The X8 LTE modem is also new with up to 300Mbps speed thru Category 7 LTE while Quick Charging is now version 3.
