Procrastinators, Unite!

This is got to be one of the easily known behavioural flaws that tech addicts are manifested off. We often times ignore the majority of real-life scenarios happening before our very eyes, thanks to the indulgement that we feel upon diving into our digital personas. People often times forget that they have important things to do such as school work, actual work, etc.

This will eventually lead to procrastination, which could heavily affect our daily lives as either student, employees or family members.  Everyday activities will then become a burden to us and we then would rather waste our time in the digital world than the actual world.

I can’t handle reality

This doesn’t exactly apply to everyone who is tech addicted since it mostly affects the people under the “gaming tech addiction” bracket. However, we’ve already seen people that are not under the bracket, but still suffer social anxiety, thanks to being overexposed in various digital activities. People have become so detached of the real world that interacting with everyday individuals can prove to be a struggle.

These type of individuals will most likely suffer the most, in terms of recovering and becoming “whole” again, since they have the most unstable effect of tech addiction. It’s sad to say that social anxiety bred by tech addiction can lead to dangerous and even fatal consequences, so it’s something worth the attention of everyone else.

A Digital Family life

Traditional family interactions usually involve the family, watching t.v together and talking with one another, as the youngest of the family playfully runs around the living room. I’ve used to picture that everyone has this same daily routine as my family back then, but I guess, that’s not always the case. Today, tech addiction affects more family members and thus, family interactions and socializing is rather rare at certain households.

These days, almost everyone has Facebook and social media site accounts that family members barely talk to each other now, many households work this way now, thanks to continuous exposure to technology, which at first, should be helpful, since it bridges the gap and enables communication on any member of the family, anywhere and everywhere they are. The irony that technology is the reason that some household barely feels like “household” anymore is quite sad, but nevertheless, its a fact.

The desire to be popular

Popularity contest is pretty common in school, everybody wants to be well-known and respected in school, once in their life. However, if social media attracts the desire to be popular then it’s a different scenario all-in-all. This scenario is more menacing than meets the eye because this type of behaviour could ensue various negative scenarios that can often time endanger the affected or the people around him or her.

Let’s think of social media as a personal afterschool hangout of everyone in the school, one could perceive that being well-known in social media could transcend to real-life fame and at times it is. However, the desire to be known and the ability to do more, thanks to social media gives some people the ability to “stand out” without even trying and sometimes their ways are rather off.

Didya notice me?

Another fatal and seemingly “reckless” effect of addiction is it shortens your attention span. Normally you would think, how can this be dangerous? or why would I worry about this, or even I’ve had short attention span since  I was born, how would this affect me? Well then, let us clear something out. A short attention span is fatal when a user is on the road or at least outside the household.

Getting the picture now? If you often time grab your phone every minute or second, you’ll lose focus on things around you, road accidents and household accidents could easily happen with ease. If you’re a bit crazy on that particular part then make sure to lessen up a bit. It might actually save you in the most ludicrous way.
