The countdown for the Laurence Olivier Awards 2015 in London is now on and nominees have been announce. Incredibly, two Filipinos are on the run for the awards.
One of the running for the Best Actor in a Musical is the Filipino stage actor Jon Jon Briones, who currently stars as ‘The Engineer’ in the West End revival of ‘Miss Saigon’. Jon Jon was part of the original cast of Miss Saigon which open. To audiences in 1989. Also, the say musical is nominated for the Best Musical Revival.

Of course, the original Kim of the famous broadway musical, Miss Lea Salonga was so happy for the Filipino theater actor. Lea has rose to stardom for acting as Kim and later won on Olivier for Best Actress in a Musical in 1990. The singer happily expressed her excitement on her Twitter account:

Apparently, two Filipinos are nominated for the prestigious award, aside from Jon Jon, Nicole Scherzinger of Cats is also on the run to take an honor.

The Laurence Olivier Award is the most prestigious honor in British theater. Similar to the Tony Awards for Broadway in the United States, and is considere as one of the highest awards in the theater community.
The winners for the Laurence Olivier awards will be announce on April 12 at Royal Opera House.
