Asus launched the Asus ZenFone Ares today in Taiwan. Unlike other recently released Asus devices, this launch didn’t have an event nor a press release. The main focus of this smartphone is Augmented Reality (AR) as well as Virtual Reality (VR). Looking at its specs, it’s quite similar to the ZenFone AR.

The ZenFone Ares features a 5.7″ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 and an aspect ratio of 16:9. The smartphone’s display is also supported by Tru2life technology and oil-repellent coating.
Under the hood, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 821 along with 8GB of RAM and an internal storage of 128GB which can be expandable. It also goes well with Google’s ARCore technology. In addition, the ZenFone Ares is fueled by a 3300mAh battery supported by Quick Charge 3.0 and runs on Android Nougat.
As for its camera department, it sports a 23MP rear camera with PixelMaster 3.0 lens and an 8MP selfie snapper. Its main camera features motion tracking and depth sensing for AR three-dimensional effects. In regards to its audio, it includes SonicMaster 3.0 Hi-Res Audio 384 kHz audio decoder and DTS Headphone with 7.1 surround.
The Asus ZenFone Ares is only available for purchase in Taiwan at the price of TWD 9,999 (approx. PHP 17,715). As of now, there are no news or information if the device will be released to other countries.
