Pokemon Go was just locally launched more than a week ago, enough for it to become a craze both outside and in the Philippines. And unlike most people who enjoy playing Pokemon Go while in traffic along EDSA, Representative Joey Salceda thinks otherwise.

On the latest banning of provincial buses in Metro Manila, the congressman blames and thinks Pokemon Go players pose “bigger threat” to worsening traffic in the metro than these PUVs. He even laid out some numbers and mathematic calculations on how playing Pokemon Go while in the car causes heavier traffic than these buses.

“If you are rich enough to maintain a private car, you must be rich enough to yourself and your kids an Android, iPad or iPhone. Multiply that by the 2.5 million cars in Metro Manila”, he added.

Although he has some valid points about the ratio of passengers that these buses carry, he still needs to familiarize himself with the game and especially on the history of the worsening traffic that’s been present for many years now.

On the additional note, the Anti Distracted Driving Act is already enforced leaving drivers no choice to keep away from their smartphones while on the road.

  1. It is so convenient for our politicians to blame the Pokemon Go players when traffic has been an ongoing issue and getting worst. How about it is time for the politicians to do something and fix the traffic instead of pointing fingers?
