Fitbit’s first smartwatch – the Fitbit Ionic

In what seemed to have been forever, Fitbit Philippines has finally brought their newest fitness tracker/smartwatch – the Fitbit Ionic.

Fitbit Ionic 2

The Ionic is built for sports enthusiasts and athletes alike. Strava integration allows for in-app synchronization for record-keeping and real-time monitoring. For homebodies, a dynamic personal coach can be found within the Ionic. Not only does it give you the routine, it also adjusts depending on your feedback.

Music can be stored on the built-in 2.5GB storage of the Ionic for 300+ songs, along with downloaded playlists from Pandora. Any Bluetooth headset can be connected to the Ionic for music playback, virtually allowing the user to leave their phone at home without losing valuable workout data.

With PurePulse, real-time heartrate monitoring with advanced tracking. For swimmers, the Ionic is water-resistance and tracks laps, duration and calories burned during workouts.

Touted as the best feature, the Fitbit Ionic can go for up to 5 days without charging, and up to 10 hours while using GPS and/or playing music. Part of reason why is that the Ionic also tracks sleeping stages (yes, you would have to sleep with the Ionic on, in case you’re wondering) in order to get personalized insights.

Being a smartwatch, notifications are displayed upon receiving along with quick access to call, text and calendar alerts & apps for weather, sports and more.

As cashless and cardless transactions mature, the Ionic is equipped with an NFC chip for on-the-go payments. For fashionistas, the Ionic has interchangeable bands for sport and casual activities. And yes, it supports all mobile platforms.

Priced at PhP 15,690, its wide array of features and competitive pricing is a match made in heaven of fitness buffs. It is now available on partner retailers like Digital Walker, Beyond the Box, Globe Telecom, Abenson, Lazada, and Zalora. It is available in three color combinations (silver-gray tracker & clasp + blue-gray band, smoke gray tracker & clasp + charcoal band, or burnt orange tracker & clasp + slate blue band) that will seamlessly fit into your lifestyle.

Fitbit Flyer & Fitbit Aria 2 – What Are They?

Along with the Ionic was the Flyer, a Bluetooth headset designed to pair with the Ionic, and the Aria 2, a Wi-Fi smart scale. Both will be soon available in Philippines for PhP 6,790 and PhP 7,690.

Fitbit Flyer

At the moment, we only have data for the Flyer. As with most wireless fitness headsets, the Flyer is virtually sweat proof, rated IP67. For the audio, Fitbit had Waves Audio Ltd. enhance the digital audio output for up to 6 hours of playtime, and there is also a 15-minute quick-charge feature for an extra hour.

Powered by Bluetooth 4.2, the Flyer can connect to two devices simultaneously for concurrent playback.
