Despite the noise surrounding Huawei bans across the US, its sub-brand, Honor, seems not affected as it releases its flagship lineup in 2019. Meet the Honor 20 and 20 Pro. With the latest OnePlus 7 Pro launching as the company’s most expensive phone, the “flagship killer” moniker is now up for grabs.

Honor 20 Pro is the first phone to sport a macro lens and f1.4 aperture

“Pro-Grade Quad Camera System” — that’s how Honor is branding its latest flagship phone. Staying true to its words, you will find four main cameras on the back of Honor 20 Pro. First is a 48MP main sensor with the widest aperture on a phone at f1.4 — allowing more light to travel, second is a 16MP f2.2 ultra wide angle, third is an 8MP f2.4 (3x optical) telephoto lens, and fourth, is a 2MP f2.4 macro camera (another first from a phone) capable of shooting subjects within 1.5″ distance. It’s worth noting that there’s 4-Axis OIS on the main and telephoto lenses for.

For the selfie camera, there’s a 32MP sensor punched into the display on the top-left corner. Speaking of the display, you’ll find here a 6.26″ FHD+ IPS LCD panel. Aside from that, you’ll see a capacitive fingerprint scanner mounted on the right side of the Honor 20 Pro.

When it comes to performance, there’s a HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset supported by 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Due to the capability of the chipset, it paves the way for AIS Super Night Mode and AI Ultra Clarity Mode dedicated for daylight shooting. But unlike other phones, the Honor 20 Pro makes use of graphene cooling sheet to provide better thermal conductivity than copper.

In a typical Huawei manner, there’s a 4000mAh battery with 22.5 SuperCharge support — hitting 0% to 50% in 30 mins. However, there’s no wireless charging support.

Honor 20 also has a Quad Camera System

You can expect almost the same camera system when getting an Honor 20. However, the 48MP has a smaller but still good f1.8 aperture, and the telephoto lens is replaced by a depth sensor. Another notable difference is that Honor 20 is slimmer in comparison. Other than that, you can expect literally the same build and design.

Everything that we’ve mentioned about Honor 20 Pro is also found on the non-Pro model, except for a smaller 3750mAH battery, 6GB RAM, 128GB onboard storage, and lack of graphene sheet.

Last but not least, the Honor 20 phones come with no headphone jack, but they do support 9.1 surround sound virtualization for a cinema-like experience.

Now for the price. The Honor 20 will sell for €499 ~P29k while the Honor 20 Pro is priced at €599 ~P35k. We can expect the flagship duo to arrive in the Philippines as early as June.
