Fresh from Mobile World Congress, OPPO officially reveals the 5x project. Witness your image with 5x Dual Camera Zoom technology.
While it’s not actually a smartphone, the Chinese company revealed that the 5x Dual Camera Zoom technology will be implemented on their upcoming handsets.

Lossless image even with 5X Optical Zoom
5X project, basically means a “smartphone photography technology that [gives] users [the] ability to capture highly detailed images.”
To be specific, DigitalTrends described it as a “dual camera system that uses a ‘periscope’ structure to divert light through a prism and onto an angled telephoto lens.
So instead of the light traversing to its natural path, the shift delivers exceptional clarity at any given zoom level.
They even showcased it with the Apple iPhone 7 Plus which offers 2x optical zoom compared to their own prototype, of some sort.
The 5X project also provides 40 percent improvement from the OIS of today through the two-part optical image stabilization system. This reduces the shakiness when trying to capture on a specific zoom level.
While optical zoom feature requires set of sensors – making the camera bump apparent, the company said that its actually designed to fit for thin smartphones.
OPPO basically just set itself apart from its fellow Chinese competitors with its new camera technique. Wherein (most probably) could set a new standard when it comes to smartphone photography.
The Chinese company is pretty much headed in the right direction. Last year, they topped as the number one smartphone vendor in China while beating the likes of Huawei, Apple, and Samsung.
