Twitter Updates Rules On Privacy Policy: Twitter released on Wednesday a series of updated rules in its privacy policy in an effort to augment its fight against revenge porn. The company seeks to fight abuses and harassments by prohibiting the posting of sexually explicit media such as images of nudity or sexual acts, which publicly shared online without the consent of the pictured individual.

The social media platform said through an FAQ first published by BuzzFeed that user found in violation of the new policies would have their accounts locked or suspended and contents hidden.

This updated rules is Twitter’s step in protecting the users. Which are bullied and are sent away because of harassment experienced online.

The full text of updated rules can be found in the private information section of Twitter’s rules for content boundaries. Such updated rules are as follows:

Private Information:

You may not publish or post other people’s private and confidential information, such as credit card numbers, street address or Social Security/National Identity numbers, without their express authorization and permission. You may not post intimate photos or videos that were taken or distribute without the subject’s consent.

Twitter also amended its Abusive Behavior Policy:

Threats and Abuses:

Users may not make direct, specific threats of violence against others, including threats against a person or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, age, or disability. In addition, users may not post intimate photos or videos that were take or distributed without the subject’s consent.

Twitter CEO Dick Costolo wrote in one of the internal memos on February, “We suck at dealing with abuse and trolls on the platform and we’ve sucked at it for years. It’s no secret and the rest of the world talks about it every day. We lose core user after core user by not addressing simple trolling issues that they face every day.” Costolo vowed to take stronger action to eliminate the activity from the platform.

In December, Twiter unveiled a new set of tools to aid its members combat harassment and report bullying behavior.
