Vivo Nex 3 has been unveiled in China already. For its third iteration, we’re given yet again another look of the future of smartphones. If you ever wonder what features or designs could be in store in the future, Vivo Nex 3 nearly carries them all.
We all know this is coming. Sporting the Snapdragon 855+ chipset, Vivo Nex 3 is 5G enabled thanks to the built-in X50 modem. With support for all global bands via sub-6Ghz antenna design, Vivo’s futuristic phone can reach over 1Gbps of download speeds with very low latency. On the Wi-Fi side of things, the company is introducing dual WLAN Acceleration technology that allows the device to use two Wi-Fi signal networks at the same time for a smoother experience. FYI, a separate 4G model has also been released.

Battery & Charging
To keep Vivo Nex 3 operating under 5G conditions, it needs a large battery. That said, it features a generous 4500mAh capacity that makes sure you’re connected for the entire day. If that’s not enough, the company is bundling it with 44W Super FlashCharge technology. Being under the same umbrella as OPPO and OnePlus, you can expect Vivo’s fast charging technology to be one of the fastest out there.
Huge Optics and New Camera Design
As you may have expected, Vivo Nex 3 is introducing a new camera module design. From small modules to large, rounded types, Vivo is embracing multiple cameras, dubbed as Lunar Ring Camera System. Since smartphone optics are getting bigger and bigger, the need for a bigger space is paramount. That said, the Nex 3 is packing a 64MP f1.8 Samsung ISOCELL main sensor. Alongside it are two 13MP f2.2 sensors for ultrawide and telephoto. Housed inside a pop-up mechanism is the 16MP elevating front camera. At a glance, it looks like two pop-up cameras in one, however, the other half contains a soft-LED flash.
As absurd as that may sound, it seems like the future of smartphones includes button-less design. Vivo Nex 3 comes with no physical buttons including the power button. Instead, there are designated portions of the sides that allows you to power up the device as well as adjust the volume level. It works by tapping these portions with the device providing haptic feedback. Vivo is calling this feature Touch Sense.
99.6% Screen-To-Body Waterfall FullView Display
By removing all physical buttons, Vivo Nex 3 has achieved an outstanding 99.6% screen-to-body ratio. Vivo’s concept phone is literally the all-screen phone. Dubbed as Waterfall FullView Display, the 6.89″ FHD+ POLED screen flows to the sides that enable side ambient lighting. An example of this is when music is playing, the curved edges act like an equalizer of some sort. Early hands-on show that accidental and palm touch rejection is quite good, despite the extremely curved screen.
Vivo Nex 3 is a great innovative effort that lets both the industry and consumers see what the future holds. It may not be widely available to all, but you shouldn’t worry about that since most of its features will arrive on mainstream phones.
