iOS 11.3 delivers updates with new AR experiences, Battery life and performance, Animoji, health records and several new features!
Now, Apple is ready to roll out updates to all supported devices which includes sixth-generation iPod touch, iPhone 5s and later, iPad Air and later and iPad mini 2 and later.
New AR Experiences
In this update, maps can be more accurate when it comes to irregularly shaped surfaces. Also, vertical surfaces like a wall can now be recognized aside from horizontal surfaces like tables and chairs. Real world experience will be sharper, thanks to the autofocus with better resolution.
Battery Life
We can say that this major update is Apple’s response to one of their PR controversies, which is apparently iOS has features that slow down older iPhone models. However, Apple says its designed to prevent phones from unexpectedly shutting down altogether. In this software update, users will now have an option to disable all throttling. This ability only applies to iPhone 7 / 7 Plus, SE, 6S / 6S Plus, 6 / 6 Plus for now. iPhone 6 or later users will just be notified if the battery needs to be serviced, also offers more visibility into the battery health and performance.
Animoji
Lion, bear, dragon, and skull will now join the lineup of the Animojis for iPhone X users.
A couple of significant features were also updated:
- Health Record that can be accessed directly on your iPhone
- Data and Privacy to find out how our personal data was used
- Business Chat is a new way of communicating directly to messages app on iPhone and iPad
