ASUS MX34V Full Review – “An all-around entertainer”
Meet the ASUS MX34V – An Ultra Wide Curved monitor that can almost do everything.
ASUS continues to improve their beloved MX series monitor lineup by outing the latest MX34V featuring a curved construction with some added nifty features.

Design
At 34-inch, the MX34V has a clear span of 1800R curved screen that offers 178-degree wide viewing angle in a 21:9 aspect ratio, meaning – a 3440 x 1440 resolution hypnotizing your eyeballs.
The premium construction continues to the thin bezels highlighted by a silver slid on the bottom part with an ASUS logo together with a Harmon Kardon Audio speakers situated below.
Apart from the speakers, the monitor settings can be controlled via the power button, a shortcut button, and a joystick.
One of the nifty features here is the base of the MX34V that features Qi Wireless Charging. So, all you need to do is rest a Qi-enabled device and it will charge it at 5W/1A power.
For the ports, it has three HDMI 2.0, one display port, a 3.55mm audio jack, and one power input via the external power brick. A little cable management will be needed if you want things to look minimalistic.
Aesthetically speaking, it’s a classy looking curved monitor but falls shorts in the ergonomics department. The base stands shortly that needed a little height adjustment and the stand is not mountable.
Display
Before we dwell to the display, it’s important to note that ASUS is selling an ultra wide curved monitor and not a gaming monitor in which we will get into a bit.
The 34-inch display makes use of Samsung VA panel with a resolution of 3440 x 1440 that is equivalent to 110ppi. Not to mention, it’s a light matte finish to minimize glare issues.
In terms of viewing angles, the colors are quick to shift but hey, that’s why it’s a curved panel in the first place.
Blacks are dark that almost eliminates the light bleeding effect and colors are accurate overall.
ASUS also made sure to protect your eyes at night with its blue light filter.
We can’t deny that the large screen estate and the curved construction makes it a solid combination for your extreme single operation or multi-tasking.
It’s wide, huge, and sexy all at the same time.
In terms of gaming, it’s a bit different.
The MX34V has a native 100Hz with support for FreeSync from 48Hz up to 100Hz.
For gaming, that’s about okay as we enjoyed smooth visual rendering with almost no tearing effects. When it comes to the extreme gameplay experience, we’ll take higher frame rates any day of the week.
Additionally, Asus include the GamePlus feature – allowing to set crosshair overlay, the onscreen timer, and display the fps counter muck like how FRAPS work.
Speaker
The Harmon Kardon powered built-in speaker leans more on clarity and intensity as it offers an above average experience compared to other monitors.
Pricing and Verdict
ASUS MX34VÂ is priced at Php 56,490 or $1137USD.
If you are going to overlook the price tag, ASUS puts in a solid good looking monitor that cuts as an all-around performer, and does a bit of high-end gaming and added pleasurable movie experience.
