Two budget flagship smartphones full review and comparison: Zenfone 5Z vs Mi Pocophone F1

The Asus Zenfone 5z has been in the market since its official launching on April 14, 2018. It provides a variety of outstanding improvements and features and is considered as a flagship killer which topples its competitors in terms of price and quality. 7

On the other hand, the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 was recently launched in the market last September 6 of the same year, which also offers a smooth smartphone experience which threatens the Asus Zenfone 5z’s reputation.

First Impressions on design and build

In terms of size, both smartphones are somewhat identical, even though the Asus Zenfone 5z’s 6.2-inches size ratio is just a few centimeters larger than Xiaomi Pocophone’s 6.18-inches size ratio, the difference between these two cannot be easily identified.

In terms of display, both smartphones are harnessing a 1080×2246 pixels display which gives any user the efficiency of achieving a larger and better smartphone display experience.

This being said, the Asus Zenfone 5z provides a better grip and hand-feel experience compared to the company’s previous smartphone series.

In accordance with this, a vertically aligned dual camera setup and LED flash located at the upper left of the device is featured at the back, along with the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and the company branding.

On the other hand, the Pocophone F1 promotes a long-lasting battery lifespan of 4000 mAh Li-Po battery, compared to Zenfone 5Z’s 3300 mAh Li-Ion battery. In terms of display, the Pocophone F1 provides a cooler display, although it can be set on a higher brightness setting, the device’s screen showcases a cooler display without sacrificing its full HD display feature, as well as it does not deplete the battery faster.

Memory and Storage

Both devices run on an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, with RAM that varies from 8GB, 6GB, and 4GB for the Asus Zenfone 5z, while the Pocophone F1 has 8GB and 6GB RAM variants. Overview

Both smartphones possess a great smartphone experience. Both excel in terms of speed, design and efficiency; it’s just that the Pocophone F1 topples the Asus Zenfone 5Z in terms of battery. When it comes to their cameras, the Zenfone 5Z falls short against the Pocophone F1, particularly in terms of their selfie cameras.

The polycarbonate cover of the Pocophone F1 –although it makes the phone look really generic, really gives the user a nicer and firmer grip of the device, unlike the glossy finish of the Zenfone 5Z which tends to be slippery and needs the support of its silicone case for a firmer grip.
