Size comparison vs Xperia C5 Ultra
We briefly compared the 6-inch phablet of Sony, the Xperia C5 Ultra, to the 7-inch Asus Zenpad 7.0. Asus claims that their Zenpad has excellent screen-to-body ratio for a tablet, but I guess Asus is just overrated. The Zenpad has thick bezel, lots of unused spaces parade on front. Unlike on Xperia C5 Ultra, most of the facade are utilized very well.
Though the Zenpad has thick bezel, Asus was able to kept the device thin with 8.7mm thickness. Weight is a bit hefty for a plastic-made 7-inch tablet at 272g.
First impressions
The Zenpad 7.0 is made of polycarbonate (plastic) in back and front. The back cover mimics a lady’s purse in leather finish but its overall feel is so plasticky.
The front panel houses an earpiece/speaker combo on top besides the 2MP selfie camera, and a couple of light sensors.
Occupying most of the area on front is the 7-inch wide WXGA (800×1280 pixels) IPS LCD. The screen is surrounded by thick bezel. We tried watching the preloaded FHD movie on the tablet and we were disappointed on the quality. We noticed a lot of pixelations, inconsistent detail and color patterns.
In terms of controls, the Zenpad 7.0 has two physical buttons, mainly the volume rocker and power, both located at the right side of the device. The microUSB port is positioned lower right while the 3.5mm audio jack is found on upper right of the tab.
At the back, the 8MP main camera is located on the upper left corner. Sadly, no LED flash is present.
The removable back cover gives access to microSD and microSIM slots inside. The 13Whr battery is fixed with rated battery life of up to 8h in HD movie playback.
The Zenpad 7.0 can be had for P7,995 from both Asus PH store and online stores.
