After various leaks and speculations, it has been confirmed that the Black Shark Gaming Phone will finally launch on April 13. This information is based on an official invitation poster by the company itself.
As seen in the photo below, Zhu Shangzu, Xiaomi’s partner in the investment department, was invited to the Black Shark event. This shows Xiaomi’s support for the newly established company. The poster has also mentioned that the event will be held in China on April 13, 2018 at 3:00 PM.
The Black Shark Gaming Phone was first spotted on AnTuTu on February with the codename “BlackShark”. More information about the device was revealed when it appeared on Geekbench. The listing mentioned that the device will arrive with the Snapdragon 845 chipset along with 8GB of RAM and Android 8.0 Oreo. The handset will also be powered by Quick Charge 3.0 for faster charging. It was also leaked last week that the phone might arrive in other variants with a larger internal storage.
Leaked photos
A Weibo user has leaked promo “photos” of the Black Shark Gaming Phone. The image shows the phone with joysticks as well as the classic action buttons usually found in a controller. The device is colored black and green with a screen large enough for gaming. The top of the handset houses two shoulder buttons, volume control buttons, and a power button. The charging port and audio jack is located at the bottom.
Take note that these photos have not been confirmed so they may be fake. Other information on the phone’s other specs as well as price has not been announced.

Mr. Wu Shimin, CEO of Black Shark, has confirmed that the leaked photos are fake. He mentioned the following in a Weibo post:
“The appearance of the “Black Shark Gaming Phone” currently exposed on the Internet is really ugly. Our products are not like that. Sharks can put a hundred hearts. The new product of Black Shark is a mobile phone with a smart and beautiful appearance.”
