We’ve recently gotten our hands on with Cherry Mobile’s upcoming new Selfie handset, the Flare Selfie (priced at Php7,999). We wanted to test it out against an already established camera phone in the market, none other than Asus’ Zenfone Selfie (Priced at Php11,995) and see which among these two selfie-heavy camera phones take the cake.

Daylight/HDR shooting
From the example seen above, we can clearly determine that almost both handsets delivered a pretty dominant performance. However, they do differ in brightness and saturation, with the Flare Selfie lacking a bit in the vibrancy department or life-like colouring while the Zenfone Selfie losing a bit in the brightness category.
On a more positive note, in the HDR category, the Asus Zenfone selfie fills in what the Flare Selfie lacked in saturation, with a more accurately detailed colouring and livelier output. While as for the Flare Selfie, it is also quite top-notch, which in contrast to the Zenfone Selfie delivers a bit brighter and more distinguishable output than the Zenfone Selfie.
Winner on the daylight/HDR category: Asus Zenfone Selfie
Night/FlashOn Shooting
Let’s move over to the dark side, of course not technically. We now focus our sights on night shooting for both Zenfone Selfie and Flare Selfie. From the example above, we can clearly see at first glance, the Flare Selfie’s night output is looking far more noise-controlled and clearer than of the Zenfone Selfie. Lights are also felt a bit more natural on the Flare Selfie’s outputs, which is a pretty cool point to take.
However, on the Flash On low light shots, we can clearly see that the Zenfone Selfie’s flash delivered a more satisfactorily performance than of the Flare Selfie’s, which felt a bit weak in the flash category. Image-wise, it still reigns supreme in the noise-control department and is seen to still deliver the clearest and sharpest output, in comparison to the Zenfone Selfie.
The winner in night shooting/Flash On category: Cherry Mobile Flare Selfie
Selfie Shooting (Daylight)
Now let’s move on to their forte’s shall we? It’s time for a Selfie Battle. From the example seen above, we can clearly determine that almost both shooters are extremely at par with one another with the Zenfone Selfie only staggeringly coming up in the brightest category, just a bit. White balance and color saturation are on point for both Selfie smartphones, with the Flare Selfie seemingly delivering a more natural feel on the color category, which is a reversal of the daylight shooting battle.
Winner of the daylight selfie shooting category: Tie
Selfie Shooting (Night w/out Flash)
On to a darker note, amazingly, the first thing we determined from the low light selfie output we took from both phone is the relatively better output colorization of the Zenfone Selfie in comparison to that of the Flare Selfie. Upon closer inspection, Zenfone Selfie delivered a brighter and a white balance inclined output than the Flare Selfie. A better selfie output on the night, with clearer and livelier coloring. Zenfone Selfie takes the cake in this category.
Winner on the night selfie (w/out flash) category: Asus Zenfone Selfie
Selfie Shooting (Night w/ Flash)
This is much of a bummer than a shocker to us. From the given example above, we can clearly see that the Zenfone Selfie’s flash was livelier and impactful in the output than of the Flare Selfie. It seems that there wasn’t even that much impact that the Flare Selfie’s flash did to heightened up the image. Upon closer inspection, we can determine that the flash was indeed better and more impactful to the photo for the Zenfone Selfie, delivering a brighter close-up output than of the noisier Flare Selfie output.
Winner on night selfie (w/ flash) category: Asus Zenfone Selfie
Which is the best camera for you?
Both Selfie shooting devices are really great at some particular points. However, we can highly suggest that the Cherry Mobile Flare Selfie is a better bang for your buck since it’s a cheaper camera phone and quality-wise, despite the Zenfone Selfie being better at some categories, we felt as if that Flare Selfie wasn’t that far off with it. We felt that the better investment will be on the Flare Selfie’s side.
