From all the leaks and rumors we got about Huawei, we’re all expecting something huge in 2018. Here we piled up everything we’ve heard Huawei will unveil this year.

Huawei smartphone gets benchmarked with 19:9 panelbenchmark

According to the benchmark list, the Huawei ANE-LX1 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and features a 360×760 screen size which would translate to 1080×2280 resolution. Unfortunately, that’s what we only got for now. We’ll surely give you an update when we get any.

Huawei’s next flagship may bring DSLR-like camera

At the end of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018, Android Authority had an exclusive interview with Huawei’s CEO, Yu Chengdong (Richard Yu). And during the interview, CEO Yu hinted that camera tech and AI integration are the next big battlegrounds for all smartphone manufacturers.

He then specifically stated that his company wants to have DSLR-like cameras in the next flagship phones. Huawei wants to bring “DSLR like focal lengths and zoom to the mobile ecosystem”.

Huawei P9 camera

The company has made great progress with AI integration by launching its latest Kirin 970 chip and EMUI 8.0 ROM with AI capabilities.

Although if the company would really push this innovative idea, they won’t be the first to launch a smartphone with DSLR-like cameras. We’ve already seen those features on Panasonic’s CM1 and Nokia’s Lumia 1020.

According to an HTML compliance benchmark that surfaced, Huawei is finally going to abandon the 16:9 aspect ratio of its series. The said listing revealed that the upcoming P11/P20 will arrive with 18.7:9 aspect ratio with the resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels.

As mentioned before, the cameras are aligned horizontally and tilted to the top left corner. The setup is said to be called ProTriple-lens design. Reports suggest that it will have a total output of 40MP and also support five times Hybrid zoom as well as feature a new AI photo assistant.

Huawei video teases new fast charging tech – 48% in just 5 minutes

Huawei surprised the tech world with its new video talking about super fast charging technology that is 10 times faster than the regular charging time. The video by Huawei Watt Lab claims that it could fill a phone’s battery to 48% in just 5 minutes.

However, as you can see at 0:53, the battery was taken out of the device and charged in an external device. Check the video here:

Well, if it could really charge the battery that fast, it wouldn’t hurt to take out the battery, right? Our guess is that maybe Huawei is hyping up for the Mobile World Congress happening this February. What do you think?

Huawei to focus in the low-end market

Huawei’s President Ren Zhengfei is reported to have hinted at an internal meeting that he’d want to focus on low-end smartphones this year. The company recently disclosed that it shipped 153 million smartphones in 2017 (10% from 2016’s figure).

He stated that low-end smartphones cater for the needs of the general public which would total to almost 90% of the consumers globally.  So, Mr. Ren thought that it is important for the company to focus on low-end products than high-end smartphones to make more profits.

This is going to be Huawei’s strategy for 2018 in order to maintain their growth. The company is seriously taking up the challenge rivals like Apple and Samsung, by focusing on the low-end smartphones. However, this is a bit confusing since we’ve heard tons of Huawei smartphones with flagship specs but they also said they’re going to focus on the low-end market?
