Design
The Honor 8x uses a metal middle frame and adopts a 2.5D double texture aurora glass body with a grating effect. The parallel gradation design is constructed from 15 layers and generates a different reflection from different angles.
Going to its dimensions, the Honor 8x measures 160.4mm x76.6 mm x7.8mm, and only weighs 175g. Despite its large display and size, users can still grip the handset comfortably. In addition, Honor uses advanced chip-on-film (COF) technology and a patented antenna design to narrow the width of the bottom border to 4.25mm and achieve 91% screen-to-body ratio.
Similar to most smartphones release this year, the Honor 8x bears the infamous notch. It houses the front-facing camera, earpiece, and some sensors.
Moving on to the rear part of the device, the dual rear cameras are positioned at the top-left corner with its LED flash underneath. The words “AI CAMERA” can also be seen below the cameras and the LED Flash. At the center, there’s where the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner is located.
The power button and the volume rockers can be found on the right side of the smartphone, while the SIM tray can be seen on the left side. The bottom bunk of the device houses the USB 2.0 port, speaker grille, microphone, and the 3.5mm audio jack.
Overall, the Honor 8X adopts a design philosophy of minimalism, putting attention on aesthetics and details.
Display
The Honor 8x houses a 6.5-inch Full-View Display 2.0, and a 19.5:9 ratio in a 5.5-inch body. Its display also comes with the notch which can be seen on most recently released handsets. The screen is longer than the previous generation and is closer to the 21:9 ratio used by cinemas. Going to its resolution, the display of the Honor 8x also has a high 2340 x 1080 resolution (397 PPI) and 85% wide color gamut, allowing users to enjoy striking views on a sleek and compact smartphone.
The color doesn’t change when viewed from different angles. We also tried taking some shots outside and we didn’t have any issues with looking at the screen.
