  1. Personally as an iPad Air user for now 2 years and counting, It’s a bit bittersweet for me really. For I bought my 32 GB Cellular iPad Air 2 years ago for 38K Php but today I could buy an iPad Pro with better screen, internals and cameras for 34K at 128 GB, 4x more storage I.
It’s been a great 2 years for me and this iPad, social apps, mobile entertainment and gaming, some photography and even with my class and lessons it helped A LOT for someone who has nearsightedness where I could barely see anything on the classroom at the blackbord BEFORE I had my iPad beside me. It’s just there.
But now that two years have already passed and surely the bliss of the newness now fades as of new features added on newer and more powerful models like iPad Air 2 and the aformentioned iPad Pro 9.7-inch.
Not only that today my first gen is slower and has less camera features and megapixels and don’t get me started on hardware upgrades on the newer models. It just seems so fast on how the new quickly becomes the past.
Still, even as of now, this proud first gen i bought even at two years age still works like a charm and performs like it did last time, only left by the standards, which is why it’s still fast with apps and gaming, has decent-ish camera, loud and clear speakers and very fast LTE (kaway kaway sa mga Pinoy na umaasa pa rin sa Telstra PH).
I’m still not convinced of upgrading, maybe next three more years? or maybe sooner? We’ll never know 🙂

    • standalone tablet is declining, detachables such as Microsoft Surface is on the rise.
Well, got my iPad 1 still working at home. One of the first gadget I bought several years back.

      • I have to agree with the detachables and convertibles, they’re just better at everything than standard tablets, though the popularity could be a bit shook down, maybe because the lines between laptops and tablets is becoming blurred? but there are still people who still wanted a laptop and tablets separate dedicated serious work and entertainment devices respectively, like me for example 🙂
I just hope someday convertibles could become as “conventional” as standalones. But I like the idea of a Surface, I just prefer to keep it simple with an iPad.
Hey I also have an iPad 2 for visitors and other family members in case so, we’re kinda at the same boat here ? ?

      • The Surface 3 is kinda of the regular tab that could run full desktop apps and still be as mobile as an iPad, though different ecosystem.
On the other hand, the Surface Pro 4 is more of a middle of the road of laptop and tablet.
I guess there will still be market for tablets such as iPad, but surely, convertibles will have a more major role in the future than the standard tab.
Other than that, get a MacBook, Ultrabook or a Surface Book for power and full experience.
My sister is still using the iPad 1 and I really love the build quality, I hope that in the future my future children would still be able to play on it. haha

      • She’s already happy with the first iPad? then, imagine if she has an iPad Air 2 or mini 4 I think she would be delighted
Heck if you could run all Windows programs, it could best the Apple app store and Google play store alltogether when it comes to apps/programs not counting in the still growing Windows Store, ?
That said maybe someday you just need a Surface that could fill in the roles of the tablet and ultrabook in the future? If that’s the case, I’d just shut up and let ’em take my money ? haha
