A new innovating patent has been spotted on World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). LG has something prepared that may go against the Samsung Galaxy X, which is the first smartphone with foldable design to hit the market this 2018. The patent was filed last July 2017, but the filing has just now been made public.

Two smartphones are in LG’s filing, and both have a description of ‘mobile phone with a flexible display which can be folded in half.’ The first model could have a smaller screen size and has two cameras placed on opposite sides. The one with the flash is most likely to be the rear camera.
The second LG patent is quite similar to the first one but it seems like it will not be possible to see a normal display when the phone is folded. See the photo above for reference.
Smartphone manufacturers are really diving into the concept of foldable smartphones for the future. We can expect foldable smartphones this year by Samsung, ZTE, and LG.
