Mediatek has just raised some bars here after putting four 10nm Cortex A73 to its latest deca-core chip, the Helio X30 (SD 820 on 14nm, less efficient). The new chip promises up to 160k Antutu benchmark which puts it to the top and the fastest mobile chip announced to date.
Inside the Helio X30 is four Cortex A73 clocked at 2.8GHz, four Cortex A53 clocked at 2.2GHz, and another two A53 at 2.0GHz. Pairing the processor is a PowerVR 7XT quad-core graphics, support up to 8GB LPDDR4 RAM, and Cat. 12 LTE modem.
However, the Snapdragon 830 and the successors to Samsung Exynos 8893 and Huawei Kirin 955 are yet to be introduced by the end of this year or early next year. All these chips will battle out including the Helio X30 for the 10nm process.
For MediaTek, it’s still a celebration as they’re first to lay out their flagship chip among its competitors, especially covering both premium and budget flagship category. The first Helio X30-powered device will be available starting Q2 of next year.
