Gaming laptop manufacturer, MSI, announced at CES 2020 the MSI GS66 Stealth. It fixes the battery, build quality, and speaker issues of the GS65 that retailed for P169,995. The headlining feature of the new device is the support of up to 300Hz refresh rate display and a bigger battery that’s under the 100Wh limit of Federal Aviation Administration.
For a gaming portable device, MSI GS66 is relatively thin despite the increase in weight from 4.0 to 4.6 pounds. The keyboard is RGB backlit and the overall aesthetic is more classy than gamer-y. Inside the metal chassis are three fans and seven heat pipes to handle an RTX Nvidia GPU and 10th-gen Intel H Series CPUs. Additionally, the M.2 slots are now accessible for an easier storage upgrade. The bottom-firing speakers from the predecessor are now top-firing, so expect the sound quality to be fuller. Now with a 300Hz display, the GS66 is easily one of the fastest laptop screens in 2020. Even with the 99.9Wh battery, expect your runtime to be shorter vs when using an average panel.
There’s no information shared yet regarding the release date and prices of MSI GS66. But the aforementioned pricing of GS65 should give you an idea.
