A huge number of people voiced out their dislike for the notched display when it was first introduced. So when it was revealed that the OnePlus 6 will feature a notch, a lot of the company’s customers complained. In order to resolve this, Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, mentioned that OnePlus 6’s notched display can be hidden.

- OnePlus might team up with Marvel for an Avengers themed OnePlus 6
Lau stated that the upcoming device will offer the option to black out the sides of the screen around the notch. The OnePlus 6 will get the notch-hiding tweak in a software update after its release. This suggests that the phone’s release may come sooner than expected. Based on other releases, OnePlus usually launched its phones in June.
The CEO also revealed some of OnePlus 6’s specs. He mentioned that the device will feature 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and the Snapdragon 845 processor.
This is not the first time a phone allowed the option to hide the notch. On April 1, 2018, Huawei gave its users to hide the notch of the Huawei P20. The same method was used, by darkening the surrounding area.
