Apple iPhone 8 vs OPPO F3 Plus

Besides performance, cameras are one of a smartphone’s fundamentals. With the rise of dual, tri, and quad cameras, does the quantity of a camera define a phone’s quality?

What’s up, Manila? This is Caesar of ManilaShaker and what I have here is the OPPO F3 Plus(P21,900/$438) and iPhone 8 Plus (P48,500/$970) for a camera comparison.

Before we get down to the nitty-gritty details, let’s first discuss the cameras on these phones.

Now, you might be wondering. First, the J7+, and now, the F3 Plus? What do you want to happen, Caesar? Convince us not to buy the phone with one of the best cameras out there?

My answer would be no. The main purpose of our camera comparisons is to give you an in-depth look at phones’ camera functions, capabilities, and how do smartphones compare to one another, price considering.

The dual camera setups on these phones are inverted. The secondary on the iPhone 8 Plus is a telephoto lens and the secondary on the F3 Plus’s front is a wide angle lens for those groupfies.

Daylight-assisted Shots

The IMX 398 on the F3 Plus does considerably well with fast autofocusing speed and OIS. Its slightly larger aperture makes it perform better for darker areas without having to rely on high ISO. In terms of colors, the iPhone 8 Plus has a wider range but flatter colors. Noise is a bit too friendly with the iPhone’s shots but details still stand out with it.

Indoor shots still favor the iPhone, but the F3 Plus isn’t too far behind. In the case of distant shots, while the 2x optical zoom may work for fast shots, the detail is actually better with just doing it in post-process with the main lens.

To wrap things up, it is only the iPhone 8 Plus that can take Portrait shots with post-processing lighting features.

Lowlight Shots

While the F3 Plus’s slightly superior aperture doesn’t perform too far in lowlight shots, the noise that the iPhone 8 Plus gives can be quite annoying to look at. As for flash coverage, the iPhone tends to give a more natural color with better range.

HDR

Moving to HDR shots, the enhancements can be seen better on the F3 Plus’s shots across all tested conditions.

Selfies

Moving to the front cameras, the iPhone 8 Plus comes off with more natural detailing and colors. The F3 Plus’s wide-angled front camera works better in well-lit instances, like under sunlight.

Extra Features

The iPhone 8 Plus has its Portrait mode, and the F3 Plus has double exposure and Ultra HD mode with the latter working at its best with decent lighting.

Video Capture

Let’s start off with the rear camera first – the iPhone 8 Plus undoubtedly outputs the video with the more detail, even in low-lighting condition. Also, it gives more stabilized videos, and with faster autofocus too. While the F3 Plus also has EIS for 4K video recording, stability and exposure are way down under. Colors, too, are lacking on its part.

Verdict – “What should I buy?”

While I did choose the J7+ in my previous video, for this one, I’d rather have the iPhone 8 Plus. I know that we’re only comparing the cameras for this one, but considering overall performance, usability, and flexibility, it’s the better deal despite being almost twice the price of an OPPO F3 Plus. It wouldn’t be sufficient to say that the F3 Plus cannot hold a candle on the iPhone 8 Plus – it performs well, but it could have done better with what it was given.

What about you? Are you for the OPPO F3 Plus or the iPhone 8 Plus? Comment it down below! Again, this has been Caesar of ManilaShaker, and thank you for reading. ‘Til then!
