Oppo has recently filed patents which indicates that the company will be launching full-screen display smartphones according to a report made by the State Intellectual Property Office also known as SIPO.
The full-screen design has been the trend for smartphones these days. It first appeared on Xiaomi Mi MIX which also featured a bezel-less design. Apple’s iPhone X then launched the full-screen design and ever since then it became a huge thing. Other companies have started to sport the same design like Huawei and Asus. After seeing the mentioned patents, it was confirmed that Oppo has also decided to switch to the said design.
Oppo has filed for these patents last year, January 9, 2017, but they weren’t able to make it before Apple.
These are the designs of the patents that Oppo has filed:
The designs seem to have three variants. One of them has a semi-circle shape and another has an inverted triangle shape. As seen in the patents, there is one that looks really similar to Apple’s iPhone X which is the semi-square variant. However, Oppo has not infringed Apple’s patents for the iPhone X has a longer notch. This means that Oppo will be able to use these designs without having to worry about patent infringement.
