The OPPO Find X has a dimension of 156.7 x 74.2 x 9.4 mm built in the glass back and front and aluminum frame weighing 186 grams. Meanwhile, the Huawei P20 Pro has a dimension measurement of 155 x 73.9 x 7.8 mm sporting a glass back and front same with an aluminum frame same with the Find X weighing 180 grams. Both are protected by Corning Corilla Glass.
Manufacturers are really determined on doing an all-screen smartphone and with that, Huawei has joined the notch trend whereas OPPO has done something innovative in Find X. It has successfully executed an all-screen phone thanks to the motorized camera.
Moving on to the back panel, these two sports a stunning gradient color, with Huawei P20 Pro having a Twilight, Black, Midnight Blue and Pink Gold. On the other hand, OPPO Find X has the Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue variants.
Unlike the Huawei P20 Pro having the back panel essentials such as the triple camera with LED, the OPPO Find X has managed to put it all on the motorized camera leaving a plain back panel.
At the bottom of the OPPO Find X consists of the Type-C charging port, speaker grille, microphone and SIM tray which is what the company think is the best place for them to execute the curved edge display. Meanwhile, the Huawei P20 Pro also has the Type-C charging port and a dual speaker.
Physical and capacitive button of the OPPO Find X are located on both sides with volume rockers are at the left and power button at the opposite side. The Huawei P20 Pro, volume rockers, and power button are located at the right while the SIM tray is placed at the left. Unfortunately, both devices don’t have the headphone jack.
Overall, these two look stunning and premium looking with their thin bezels and gradient colored back panel. However, these two are slightly prone with fingerprint smudges that’s why it is also recommended to use a case or a protection in the case of OPPO Find X as it is slippery upon holding.
The OPPO Find X features 6.42-inch AMOLED display with a screen resolution 1080 x 2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. On the other hand, the Huawei P20 Pro sports a 6.1-inch AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 ratio that is an IP67 dust/water resistant that can last for 30 mins in 1m.
We tested these two on broad daylight and by turning on to the maximum level of brightness, the OPPO Find X and the Huawei P20 Pro passed. There were no problems with the visual experience. The only difference is the display’s color tone.
Media playback, gaming, and web browsing sure is fun with thin bezels and a vibrant display. OPPO Find X and Huawei P20 Pro have provided an option where we could customize our preferred display tone for the better mobile experience.
OPPO Find X
Huawei P20 Pro
|Phone||Rear Camera||Front Camera|
|OPPO Find X||16 MP (f/2.0, PDAF, OIS) + 20 MP (f/2.0), phase detection autofocus, dual-LED dual-tone flash||25 MP f/2.0|
|Huawei P20 Pro||Triple: 40 MP (f/1.8, 1/1.7″, OIS) + 20 MP (f/1.6) + 8 MP (f/2.4), Leica optics, 3x optical zoom, phase detection and laser autofocus, dual-LED dual-tone flash||24 MP, autofocus, f/2.0, 1080p|
Here, we could see the difference between these two on how they produce colors in their photos. The OPPO Find X is more on a vibrant side whereas Huawei P20 Pro has higher contrast levels. On the closer look, OPPO Find X has captured crip details since it has a better exposure than Huawei P20 Pro.
Using AI feature, the Huawei P20 Pro stood out as it looked like it went through editing with a subtle vignette and vibrant green color. On the opposite side, the OPPO Find X has captured the subject with accuracy and good detail.
This photo shows that the OPPO Find X is on a warm tone which is more exposed than the Huawei P20 Pro is on the cool tone side. Despite the differences, these two took a high-quality shot with great detail.
On low-light, just what I’ve mentioned earlier, these two were complete opposite when it comes to color tones. OPPO Find X has delivered a photo with more exposure compared to Huawei P20 Pro that is darker but gives a photo more eerie atmosphere which is good for Instagram posts.
Going to the selfies, both devices delivered a high-quality photo. The only difference is that these two produced different colors from the subject’s skin to her clothes. Although OPPO Find X made the subject stood out, the background, however, looked overexposed. Meanwhile, Huawei P20 Pro has adjusted well to the room lighting.
With the added beauty filter, these two made the subject skin softer and whiter as compared to the first set of selfies. It may look okay for some, however, the enhancement was obvious that it looked artificial. So, in our criteria, we prefer the Huawei P20 Pro over OPPO Find X in this category.
For the portrait mode, these two did its job well on blurring the background and making the subject stood out. As we can see the blurriness level of Huawei P20 Pro is more intense than OPPO Find X. But if you compare it based on visual appeal, we’ll go for OPPO Find X this time.
On low-light situation, it’s obvious that Huawei P20 Pro can handle even with minimal lightings, unlike the OPPO Find X.
Although OPPO Find X had difficulty on low-lighting situations, it redeemed itself with the flash. Similar with Huawei P20 Pro that looks sharper than Find X which made the subject softer and whiter just like in Beauty Mode. So in this category, we’re in Huawei’s side.
Features and User Experience
The OPPO Find X is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 paired with Adreno 630 carrying 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage. Meanwhile, the Huawei P20 Pro is fueled by Hisilicon Kirin 970 coupled with Mali-G72 MP12 that carries 6 GB of RAM and 128GB storage.
Unlocking the phone, we tested the security features of the two and one is the facial recognition. As we open both devices, they responded quickly upon sliding the screen. Also, both cannot detect if the user’s eyes are closed which makes the phone secured.
Talking about the security, OPPO has added more privacy to their keyboard. So, whenever you enter passcodes or any personal information, the keyboard automatically changes so that it won’t be recorded.
There will also be for verification codes, screenshot and screen recording, and background recording of audio/images. With these, OPPO makes sure that these extra measures will help the user in protecting important and personal data from leaking.
Going to the security features of Huawei P20 Pro, there are also what they call Safe, PrivateSpace and Play Protect. All these with one goal, to keep the phone more secure and safe for the user.
In terms of gaming, both phones give a great gaming experience since these two are equipped with high-end specs. However, OPPO Find X has a feature called OPPO Game Space where gaming experience is more controlled.
We tested both smartphones using the following benchmarking tools and here are the results:
|Device||AnTuTu||Geekbench(single core; multi-core)||PCMark Work|
|OPPO Find X||288109||2346; 8196||9891|
|Huawei P20 Pro||201852||1905; 6704||7151|
The OPPO Find X is packed with 3730 mAh battery whereas the Huawei P20 Pro has a bigger battery with 4000 mAh.
Supported with VOOC flash charge, the OPPO Find X took an hour to meet 80% of charge and 100% for an hour and 53 minutes to be exact. On the other hand, the Huawei P20 Pro took 55 minutes to meet 80% thanks to Huawei SuperCharge.
Both devices were used for casual gaming, web browsing, and media playback. And upon testing, the OPPO Find X lasted 27 hours whereas Huawei P20 Pro survived for 32 hours and 20 minutes. This isn’t surprising as it is equipped with a bigger battery.
As we tested both devices, we played varieties of music side by side and OPPO Find X produces a louder sound compared to Huawei P20 Pro. But in reality, this won’t matter as these two produces crisp and clear sound. The Huawei P20 Pro’s sound can still be heard in a huge room same with the OPPO Find X.
The OPPO Find X is priced at PHP 49, 990 while Huawei P20 Pro is slightly cheaper with PHP 44, 990.
These two are undeniably innovative and stunning smartphones that give a great mobile experience to the users. However, if you look at it, these two are highly expensive. And in reality, some of their good features and specs can be found on midrange phone today.
All in all, OPPO Find X and Huawei P20 Pro can deliver a great gaming experience as both are equipped with flagship chipsets, high-quality photo shoots, and seamless web browsing. It’s up for you to decide which do you prefer, the OPPO Find X or the Huawei P20 Pro?
