Qualcomm released a new design for the upcoming Snapdragon 845 Mobile VR headset. The headset is capable of displaying two 1024 x 1152 pixel screens at 120 frames per second. Also, it can also be used for both VR and AR.

The new headset is incorporated with foveated rendering. According to The Verge, it uses an eye tracker to figure out where the user’s eye is focused and lower the resolution of the peripheral vision areas.

Qualcomm claims that the new 845 headset has 30 percent faster graphics performance compared to its previous generation. In addition, the headset has four cameras – two facing inwards to track the eyes, and other two outer facing ones.

“With the Snapdragon 845 Mobile VR Platform, we’re supporting the next wave of smartphone and standalone VR headsets for our customers and developers to create the immersive applications and experiences of the future.”
