As if there were not enough killer budget phones out there, Realme once again released a very affordable phone dubbed as Realme 3 Pro at P12,990 price. Coming with the better gaming chipset, cameras, and memory/storage combo when compared to the standard Realme 3, let’s check out what makes it “Pro”.

Design-wise, not a lot has changed from the Pro variant except for an S-shaped iridescent hue and slightly slimmer chin bezel. The same rear-mounted fingerprint scanner is here as well as familiar button placements. It has the same polycarbonate material with a glass finish as Realme 3, but you can get the Pro variant in Carbon Gray, Lightning Purple, and Nitro Blue — depending on your region. We think Purple is the way to go, but there might be a specific niche for Gray.
As for the display, it’s a 6.3-inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel but with better Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The chin bezel is noticeably thinner so that’s a plus.
As usual, you have a teardrop notch housing the selfie camera. Speaking of, there’s a massive 25MP sensor already which should improve selfie quality. The same story is shared for the main cameras featuring 16MP f1.7 main (similar to OnePlus 6T) + 5MP f2.4 depth. It’s also worth noting that it’s capable of up to 4K @ 30fps video capture.
Processing performance is one of the biggest improvements of the Realme 3 Pro thanks to Snapdragon 710 chipset paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB expandable storage. Together with that is a slightly smaller but still generous 4000mAh battery. However, it now comes with 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging — bragging 0% to 50% in 30 minutes.
Last but not least is the presence of an audio jack.
Clearly, the company cut some corners here to make it cheap, like the use of micro USB port and the plastic material instead of glass.
It’s also pretty clear that the Realme 3 Pro will be pitted against the ever so popular Redmi Note 7 Pro. That said, we will know if Realme’s new phone can handle a beating once our full review is done.
