According to an exclusive report from 91mobiles, Xiaomi is looking to release its popular budget Redmi 8 successor — the Redmi 9 (around 1st half of 2020). The main feature might be the new MediaTek Helio G70 chipset that’s said to be a tier below the budget gaming G90 and G90T SoCs.
Redmi 9 to Be a Budget Gaming-Centric Phone in 2020?
If rumors proved to be true, then the G70 is just the second lineup from the MediaTek’s G-series chip. And if we’re looking at a budget phone in the Redmi 9, given the Redmi 8 used a Snapdragon 439, there’s no reason for the company to release a G70T version. That said, these are just speculations.
The budget phone from Xiaomi is also said to be bigger with a 6.22″ HD+ display featuring a teardrop notch or Dot notch. RAM and storage could be 4GB and 64GB, respectively. But other configuration might arrive, too. While those were the only specs revealed regarding the device, Redmi 8 should provide a good expectation. It featured a single 12MP main camera and 8MP selfie while supporting 5000mAh with 18W fast charging through USB-C. In the Philippines, the base model of 3GB/32GB retails for P6,490 while the 4GB/64GB sells for P6,990 only.
