Refurbished Galaxy Note 7, to go on sale?
Surprisingly, the same device that exploded last year due to battery issues is considered to resell as a refurbished Galaxy Note 7.
Just last month, Samsung revealed why the Galaxy Note 7 caught fire by providing a detailed infographic of the faulty battery. Included in the report, is the new protocol to improve product safety.

Since the battery was the sole reason for the “explosion”, Samsung decided to swap it out with a smaller 3200mAh capacity(originally 3500mAh). Along with a new outer cover but untouched core parts.
The refurbished Galaxy Note 7 might go on sale “as early as June” in emerging markets like India and Vietnam. So you won’t be seeing this device in European countries and US.

In a financial standpoint, Samsung will be able to reduce the negative impact on the multi-billion dollar recall and avoid additional expenditures in disposing of the remaining inventory.
But from a customer’s perspective, would you even buy an already defective device from the first place in exchange for a smaller battery and lower cost.
Samsung would need a different marketing strategy here in reselling a defective smartphone.
