Samsung releases its first Android Go smartphone
Samsung announced its first-ever smartphone that runs on Android Go, the Samsung Galaxy J2 Core.
The device was released in both India and Malaysia this August 24, 2018. The price of the said smartphone is not yet revealed although its specs and features are now announced.
The Samsung Galaxy J2 Core runs on an Android Oreo (Go Edition) OS which is a minimal version of the operating system with lighter versions of the Google apps specifically designed to run on low-end devices.
It features a sleek 5-inch HD TFT display with a 540 x 960 resolution. The device runs on Samsung’s 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos 7570 processor with a Mali-T720 MPI GPU. It has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded via an SDcard of up to 128GB.
For its camera, the device holds an 8MP rear camera with an LED flash and a 5MP front camera. The device also has 3G and 4G network connectivity and also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. It also has a 2,600 mAh battery.
