Daylight shooting
Seeing the outputs from both shooters proves that these two are identical in more ways than one, as they delivered almost identical outputs, in terms of color and brightness. However, upon closer inspection, it seems that on some outputs, the Galaxy J5 2016 delivered warmer colors, while the original Galaxy J5 shows a bit sharper image.
Sadly, both shooters couldn’t get hold of an HDR feature, which is quite of a letdown for the Galaxy J5 2016, nevertheless, performance was highly similar with one another.
Low-light and night shooting
Like in daylight camera shooting, both Galaxy J5’s delivered quite a similar performance in outdoor night shooting, with a tad bit difference in color and noise control, with the Galaxy J5 2016 giving off darker colors and a pretty decent noise control capability, while the Galaxy J5 2015 provided a lighter tone on and weaker noise control capability.
With On-flash shooting, both handsets were seen be really bright, however, a clear difference in color can be easily distinguished as the Galaxy J5 2016 delivered a warmer tone, while the Galaxy J5 2015 delivered a lighter tone.
Selfie shooting
For selfies, both Galaxy J5’s delivered a really decent performance, however, background seemed to be a bit overexposed, which actually affected the performance of both phones. Nevertheless, the color tone is on point and brightness level is at its peak.
On-flash selfies are actually a bit decent, with the Galaxy J5 2016 edging out in terms of color and overall output performance, however, the Galaxy J5 2015 did deliver a bright and distinguishable output, which alone was a feat on its on.
Verdict
Both Galaxy J5 handsets are actually rather similar in more ways than one, with a few instances that the Galaxy J5 2016 edged out its predecessor. Nevertheless, we feel that its camera performance ain’t that improved since both still performed in an almost full-identical manner.
