Marking the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy S series, Samsung finally introduced its 2019 flagship phones – meet the Galaxy S10 and S10+. At 8GB/128GB, the S10 and S10+ are priced at Php49,990 and Php59,990, respectively. With tons of features to cover, let’s get down to it.

Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10+ Specs

From the one-hand friendly Galaxy S10e, we traverse to its bigger siblings clocking in at 6.1-inch for the Galaxy S10 and 6.4-inch for the Galaxy S10+. Both come with 1440p+ Dynamic AMOLED Infinity-O screens with HDR10+ support. All that while being protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. In typical Samsung manner, the glass curves to the sides for a consistent feel in the hand.

Color availability for the two lets you choose from White, Black, Green, and Blue along with Ceramic versions of White and Black exclusively for the Galaxy S10+.

With no capacitive fingerprint scanner to feel, Samsung goes for the futuristic approach thru its ultrasonic on-display fingerprint scanner which works almost as fast as the previous generation.

For the batteries, the Galaxy S10 caps at 3400mAh while the Galaxy S10+ beats the hell out of the Galaxy Note 9 with 4100mAh. Fast charging support of 15W is now possible with wireless charging, too. Then, you have the 9W reverse charging should you feel sharing a bit of your battery percentage.

Four to five cameras for the S10 and S10+

Starting up front, the Galaxy S10 has a pinhole design housing the 10MP selfie camera with the S10+ upgrading that to two pinhole cameras by adding another 8MP RGB depth sensor. Both can record up to 4K @ 30fps for much better quality.

Moving to the back, both S10 and S10+ give you three cameras to use (12MP telephoto + 12MP wide angle + 16MP ultra wide). This goes with HDR recording, up to 4k @ 60fps, and super slow motion features among others. Furthermore, Scene Optimizer now supports 30 modes including but not limited to Beaches, Sky, Mountain, Sunset, Sunrise, City, Snow, Waterfall, and Watersides.

Making it feature-packed as possible

One good thing about Samsung Galaxy phones is its feature-packed identity. The metal and glass combination of the Galaxy S10s allows for IP68 dust and water resistance. You still get a dedicated microSD slot of up to 512GB, stereo speakers setup, and a 32-bit-capable audio jack.

Samsung also brings to the table the latest Wi-Fi ax standard aka “Wi-Fi 6” and its very own Samsung DeX experience (except for the Galaxy S10e). Of course, Bixby button is on-board but this time, it natively supports assigning third-party applications to launch like Facebook or Instagram.

Galaxy S10 and S10+ Variants

For starters, both flagship phones start at 8GB/128GB with an option to upgrade to 512GB for the storage. But the Galaxy S10+ goes up to whopping 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Prices are as follow:

  • Galaxy S10 (8GB/128GB) – Php 49,990
  • Galaxy S10+ (8GB/128GB) – Php 55,990
  • Galaxy S10+ (12GB/1TB) – Php 89,990

Samsung stores are now accepting pre-orders that offers up to Php30,000 worth of freebies.

As expected, Samsung released the 5G model of the Galaxy S10. Compared to its siblings, the S10 5G comes as the largest of them all at 6.7-inch with 4500mAh in tow. Charging speed has improved from 15W to 25W as well. The 5G model is an 8GB/256GB variant only and removes the microSD slot to make way for the modem. Lastly, it adds two more 3D depth cameras – one for the back and another up front. Pricing remains to be unknown but it’s expected to go on sale first via Verizon carrier in the US sometime in the 2nd quarter of 2019.
