New Year means new devices!

We’re expecting to see tons of faster, sleeker, and better smartphones this year. We’ve also seen many amazing tech innovations at the Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas recently, but the excitement doesn’t stop there because we’re going to see more in just a few days.

The Mobile World Congress is one of the biggest smartphone trade shows, and I bet you probably heard that Samsung will be unveiling the newest Galaxy S9 and S9+ there. Here we listed some of the smartphones, aside from Samsung that we’re expecting to see at the trade show.

Samsung S9 and S9+

The Samsung duo is the most anticipated smartphone this MWC 2018. The S9 model is expected to come with a 5.8-inch S-AMOLED Infinity Display, Snapdragon 845/Exynos 9810 chipset variants, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, and will be fueled by 3,000mAh battery pack. On the other hand, the Plus variant will be arriving with 6.2-inch S-AMOLED Infinity Display, Snapdragon 845/Exynos 9810 chipset variants, 6 GB of RAM, 64 GB storage. Also, it will pack a 3,500mAh battery.

Both the S9 and S9+ is rumoured to carry the same 8-megapixel selfie snapper. For the rear camera, the S9 will feature a 12-megapixel camera, while a 12-megapixel dual camera setup on the Plus.

A fresh report from a Korean publication has revealed that both the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be releasing in the global market on March 16.

Also, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy phones will feature 3D emoji and stereo speakers. The emoji will be similar to the iPhone X’s Animoji in terms of how it tracks and imitates the facial movements of the user but according to ETNews, the Samsung’s 3D emoji are more advanced than the latter’s Animoji.

ASUS Zenfone 5

As we can see on the poster, it will arrive in Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. Also, rumors have it that we might see at least 3 devices from this series – Zenfone 5, Zenfone 5 Lite and Zenfone 5 Max.

A live photo of the Zenfone 5 has leaked a few days ago and it’s been confirmed that it will come with a notch on top similar to the iPhone X’s.

According to the leakster, the four cameras are 2 x 20MP selfie and 2 x 16MP rear. As per Gizmochina, it might be interpreted as 20MP + 20MP on the front and 16MP + 16MP on the rear, this sure is an overkill for a “Lite” phone. So its most likely 2MP + 20MP for the front cameras and 2MP +16MP for the rear cameras.

Sony XZ2, XZ Pro

Photos showing prototypes of the Sony Xperia XZ2 has recently appeared in the net causing people to believe that the new model might be introduced during the MWC 2018. In the image, the Xperia XZ2 Compact can be seen beside the Xperia Z5 Compact where the first one appears to have a curved bottom.

Although the device seen in the photo is a prototype and not yet the final version, we can already confirm some of the possible features that the model may have. Similar to Sony’s Xperia XA2, the prototype’s fingerprint sensor is located on the rear side of the device. The phone does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack as well. There are also rumors speculating that the final version of the model will have a slightly smaller bezel on the top of the screen.

The phone may also contain a 5-inch or smaller display, and is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset along with 4GB RAM. It may also feature a single rear camera of 19-megapixel and a front-facing shooter of 8-megapixel, with an internal storage of 64 GB and a 3,000mAh battery.

Along with the Xperia XZ2, Sony may also launch the Xperia XZ Pro in the Mobile World Congress.

These are all just speculations since Sony hasn’t officially announced what new device will be introduced during the MWC 2018 but they have reported that the press conference will be held on February 26, 2018.

LG V30s

A couple of weeks ago, reports surfaced that LG might announce the upgraded edition of the LG V30 with enhanced AI (Artificial Intelligence) capabilities at the Mobile World Congress (2018).

It is expected to be available through all the three major mobile operators such as SK Telecom, LG Uplus and KT Corporation in South Korea. And it is expected to be hitting the Korean market at the same time with the Samsung Galaxy S9. The LG V30s might carry a price tag of 1 million won, which is roughly around $920.

Leaks claim that it will arrive with 6-inch FullVision OLED display with QHD+ resolution, Snapdragon 835 chipset, 16-megapixel dual rear cameras, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 3,300mAh battery.

Nokia 9

It can be seen in the photo below that it has a slimmer bezels display, a sign that HMD Global is finally ready to embrace the trend this year. However, there’s still no confirmation whether the photo is legitimate. Well, it seems that it’s one of the best Nokia 9 leaked images so far. There’s no trace of a fingerprint scanner on the front which indicates that it could be present on the back portion of the phone.

Furthermore, FCC also stated that the Nokia 9 will be featuring a 5.5-inch OLED screen. Its rear will be equipped with 12-megapixel + 13-megapixel dual cameras. t will be coming with an internal storage of 128 GB, powered 3,250mAh battery and it will be loaded with Android 8.0 Oreo.

Though it was rumored to be launched alongside the Nokia 8, that didn’t happen. So, people are expecting a Nokia 9 at the MWC 2018 instead. Also, the Chief Product Officer of HMD Global said to expect their MWC showing to be “awesome”.
