THE NOTCH IS EVERYWHERE!
Since Apple launched the iPhone X with the notch, it became a trend. We’ve been seeing leaks and rumors of phones that might come out with the same notch left and right. So if you’re wondering what phones are those, we’re here to help.
Apple iPhone X

ASUS Zenfone 5 and 5z
Three new Zenfone smartphones have been unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona. There’s the entry-level Zenfone 5 Lite, the base Zenfone 5, and the higher-end Zenfone 5z.
The ZenFone 5Z is a 6.2-inch, dual-camera smartphone that comes with a 19:9 all-screen display featuring a 90% screen-to-body ratio, packed in a 5.5-inch body size. It’s the first-ever ZenFone model to harness the power of the latest Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform with AIE, featuring a 3rd Generation AI platform that includes the Hexagon 685 Vector DSP, Adreno 630 Graphics, and Kryo 385 CPU.
ZenFone 5Z also benefits from the Snapdragon X20 Gigabit LTE modem, delivering speeds that surpass the gigabit barrier for a ‘wireless fiber’ experience, as well as integrated 2×2 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth®5 for ultra-low-power wireless earbuds. LG G7 Neo
The LG G7 Neo will have a 6-inch display with a new OLED technology. Also, it has a 3120 x 1440 resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. If you watch the attached video, there’s no notch at first, but after a few seconds, the notch appeared. The notch on the LG G7 Neo “hides” on the home screen.
In the camera department, it’ll come with dual camera setup with both having 16MP sensors but one has a F/1.6 aperture with OIS while the other is a wide-angle lens with a F/1.9 aperture. For the selfie snapper, it might come with an 8MP camera sensor. Below the dual rear camera setup is the fingerprint sensor.
The LG G7 Neo is also said to be powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor which will be coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage or 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM. It might also pack a 3,000mAh battery.
Huawei P20
The Huawei P20 will be unveiled on March 27 in a special event in Paris, France. The recent leaked photo contains the tagline, “See mooore with AI.” The additional “o” was done on purpose to emphasize the device having three cameras. Since the previous leaked photos of the Huawei P20 only showed two cameras, it was speculated that the shown device was the Huawei P20 Pro.
The handset will also feature a notch and while the idea may seem unoriginal, the photo indicates that it is one of the smallest notches to be seen in a smartphone. The photo has also confirmed that Huawei P20 will feature AI Camera.
As seen in the photo, the third camera is clearly isolated from the other two. This seemed odd and as expected, people have started guessing what purpose it may have. Rest assured, the wait won’t be long for the answer will be revealed on March 27.
OPPO R15
OPPO will be adapting the iPhone X design for their OPPO R15 and R15 Plus according to a teaser provided today by the company itself.
The leaked photo came from OPPO’s Weibo post where it stated that the new handsets will be called R15 and R15 Plus. As seen in the picture, the phone will be sporting the notch design as well as a tiny chin and bezel-less sides. It’s well known that OPPO has been replicating Apple’s design which can also be seen with their latest handsets’ design. OPPO will also be the next company to have this screen design which was popularized by Apple.
The OPPO R15 and R15 Plus are also expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 700-series which has the AI platform.
Vivo V9
The Vivo V9, which is the successor of the V7 is rumored to be launched on March 27 in India.
The “New 24MP Selfie” can also be seen on the billboard, suggesting that it’s the highlight of the upcoming V9, same with the V7. However, since there’s the word “new” before the 24MP Selfie, I think we can expect an upgraded version of the selfie camera from the predecessor.
There have been rumors that it will arrive with dual rear cameras and will be powered by the Snapdragon 660 processor.
