Sony just launched the Xperia C4 dual in the Philippines and online stores has already started selling it for P15,990 with official Sony warranty. The specs of Xperia C4 are in direct competition to the Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML. Let’s check below if which phone is better in our Ultimate Comparison test.
Table of Contents
Design
Xperia C4 is accented with rounded metal frame. The back is purely plastic with matte texture. Sony improved the screen-to-body ratio of the Xperia C4 in comparison to Xperia C3. Bezels are now smaller and made the phone easier to hold than its predecessor.
The Zenfone 2 is perhaps one of the best looking smartphone of Asus right now. The tapered back has metal finish coupled with the rear-keys.
Both device are solid and designed specifically to look better and classier than most mid-range Android smartphones.
Winner: Tie
Display
Sony have had shown their skills again in creating an immersive viewing experience, particularly in their new Xperia lineup including the Xperia C4. Sony Xperia C4 has the same screen size and 1080p FHD resolution as on Zenfone 2, but color and sunlight legibility is much better than Zenfone 2. Pictures on Xperia C4 are clearer, brighter and colors are more lively. Zenfone 2 is plagued with reflective display which is a down especially in outdoor use.
Winner: Xperia C4
Camera
The 13MP shooter of Xperia C4 takes brighter images but details are damaged by its post-processing algorithms. The images become too soft and sometimes the white balance is destroyed by too much exposure.
On the other hand, Zenfone 2’s 13MP PixelMaster is not the most dynamic camera we tested but so far it have proved to be better than Xperia C4 in more than half of the shots. Images tend to be darker but details are well preserved.
The same applies in video mode, C4 was able to capture bright video but again over exposure and too soft effect produce mediocre video.
Winner: Still Images – Tie / Video – Asus Zenfone 2
Performance and Benchmark
The MediaTek 6752 in Xperia C4 paired with 2GB RAM beats Zenfone 2 in boot up and actual speed test. But the Intel Atom 3560 of Zenfone 2 has overtaken the Xperia C4 both in AnTuTu and Basemark OS benchmarks.
Winner: Bootup, Actual – Xperia C4 / Benchmark – Asus Zenfone 2
Speaker
All Xperias we tested have very good speaker quality and loudness. This is true in Xperia C4, it is louder than Zenfone 2 and audio output is clearer. We’d like to see Sony maintaining the same speaker quality in their next devices.
Winner: Xperia C4
Price, Verdict
The problem in Sony right now are over priced offering and underperforming cameras in all of their Xperia products. Xperia C4 is few thousands more expensive than the 2GB ZE551ML version of Zenfone 2, but you will definitely get much better display and speaker. Zenfone 2 controls the camera department. Both are reliable in terms of performance and Android multitasking.
