Sony Xperia X Compact Officially Launched
Sony Xperia X Compact is now official packing an improved 23MP camera and Triple Image Sensing technology sans IP68 waterproofing. Along with the Xperia X Compact is the Xperia XZ with almost the same hardware specs as the Xperia X Performance.
The two phones are already priced in Europe with Xperia X Compact at 449 Euros or about P24k in Philippine pesos and will be available by end of September. The two run on latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow with support for 7.0 Nougat update this year.
The highlight on the Sony Xperia X Compact is the same compact form factor yet capable hardware. Up front is a 4.6-inch 720p HD curved screen and 5MP wide-angle selfie camera. Behind is a 23MP IMX300 sensor that boasts f2.0 aperture and 24mm wide angle lens. Meanwhile, the hardware inside is a setup of Snapdragon 650 hexacore, 3GB RAM, and expandable 32GB memory.
Featuring a USB Type-C port, the Xperia X Compact and XZ are first Sony smartphones to carry the new interface.
Surprisingly, Sony has dropped the IP68 Water and Dust Resistance that previously present on Xperia Z compact series.
The choice of Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 over Snapdragon 652 or 820 is also quite baffling. But together with an optimized software, the Xperia X Compact is still expected to deliver fast and powerful performance.
