Android for the Home with the Xperia Touch
The Xperia Touch was shown last but it’s not the least. At a glance, it looks like a toaster from the future – except it’s not. It’s a fully-functioning Android device that utilizes projection and infrared tech to turn any sufficiently-sized flat surface into a 23-inch 1366×768 touchscreen with 100 lumens and a 4000:1 contrast ratio. The 60fps camera capture and IR light array can accommodate 10 touch inputs at a time, making multiplayer games very playable even with the inherent input lag.
Vertical or horizontal projection is possible, with a bit of lag for adjustment in the midst of switching. A proximity sensor activates the Touch whenever you’re near. A 13MP camera is also available for use in both picture-taking and video recording. The yet-undefined battery is said to last one hour of continuous video playback mode.
Sadly, the majority of the specs are yet to be revealed.
The Xperia Touch will be launched before December, as per Sony Philippines. Maybe it’s to maximize projected sales since many will definitely find the Xperia Touch to be a good Christmas gift. Who’s to say?
