Realme XT

Realme XT is out and it has a price of P16,990 in the Philippines. If you haven’t seen our time with it yet, feel free to check out the hands-on and full review. That said, we feel like these are the best reasons why Realme XT is the mid-range phone to buy in late 2019.

64MP Quad-Cam for Day & Night

The tech community was skeptical when it learned that 64MP is going to power mid-range devices. Not because they aren’t reliable, but it’s going to be another marketing stunt to make people buy phones. We are glad to report that this isn’t the case with Realme XT. Its 64MP quad-cam setup is reliable not only in the day but also at night. There’s basically no shortage in sharpness.

As for the secondary main sensors, Realme XT made sure that you’ll be able to use the majority of them. There’s an 8MP ultrawide for all the landscape shots you need to capture and a 2MP macro lens that allows 4cm distance from the subject. The 2MP may not be as useful as the other sensors, but it works its wonders when using portrait mode.

Selfie Camera That Outputs Beautiful Photos

It’s no surprise that selfie cameras always come in second. It’s always the main lens that gets the biggest upgrades. Although that’s still the case with Realme XT’s 16MP selfie sensor, the quality that it provides will entice most users. Our review gave us sharp, colorful, and beautiful photos. Sure, beautification is still present but it’s not as aggressive as it was before.

Superior Design Quality

Mid-range phones in 2019 nearly always come with great specs, whether it’s the chipset, battery, or cameras. However, the Achilles heel of these phones is their build quality. You have great specs for the price but you’re still dealing with fake glass material. Realme XT fixes that with its dual-glass panels. Making it superior against its competition is the use of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides. This means better protection against light scratches and accidental bumps.

Plenty of RAM and Storage

RAM is easily overlooked when talking about specs. In 2019, having 6GB of RAM is enough. But we’re already into 2020 and getting a phone in late 2019 means thinking about the future. Next year, we expect 8GB to be the standard. With Realme XT delivering that amount already, expect performance longevity to be smooth and snappy.

Storage-wise, 128GB is decent. But if you’re planning to shoot photos with full 64MP resolution, you’re bound to run out of storage sooner than later. Luckily, Realme XT supports microSD slot expansion. You can add up to 256GB solely for your media files.

Fast Charging

Short battery life was the main problem of phones back then. This year, not having fast charging on a phone is the problem. This is where Realme, or rather OPPO, excels at. The 4000mAH battery of Realme XT is easily replenished with its 20W VOOC 3.0 flash charge technology. You can go up to 51% in just 30mins while a full tank will only take an hour and a half.

Chipset That Also Supports Gaming

Snapdragon 712 is a solid chipset that balances power and efficiency. It can handle day-to-day tasks without sucking the hell out of the battery. And should you need extra juice, the Adreno 616 GPU kicks in to deliver smooth frame rates in games. In some apps, you can push the graphics to the highest settings and have no problem dealing with lags and stutters.
