Vivo X21 vs OnePlus 6: Specs comparison

The Vivo X21 will be launching here in the Philippines today. It is known as the first commercial phone that features an in-display fingerprint scanner. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 6 arrived in the Philippines this May.

The two smartphones’ price is relatively close but which of them is worth buying more? Let’s find out here.

Vivo X21 and OnePlus 6 similarities

In terms of display, the two smartphones seem to have a similar screen size as well a notched display. Both feature a 6.28″ screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 and an aspect ratio of 19:9. The only difference is that the Vivo X21 sports a Super AMOLED display whereas the OnePlus 6 has an Optic AMOLED screen. The two are also protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass. Unlike the OnePlus 6 which is supported by Gorilla Glass 5, the Vivo X21 is only supported by Gorilla Glass 3.

Under the hood, the OnePlus 6 is more advanced due to its Snapdragon 845 chip with a GPU of Adreno 630. As for the Vivo X21, it is powered by the Snapdragon 660 and an Adreno 512 GPU. The Vivo X21 contains 6GB of RAM + 128 GB internal storage. On the other hand, the OnePlus 6 has a larger storage option of 6GB of RAM + 64GB internal storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB internal storage, and 8GB of RAM +256GB internal storage. In order to make up for this, the storage of the Vivo smartphone is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.

In terms of their camera setup, the two smartphones feature dual rear lenses. The OnePlus 6 sports a dual 16MP + 20MP rear camera whereas the Vivo X21 only sports a 12MP + 5MP dual main camera. As for their front camera, the Vivo smartphone has a 12MP lens and the OnePlus device has a 16MP lens. Looking solely at the specs, the OnePlus 6 seems to sport the better camera. However, to fully determine which of the two has a better camera, we would have to do a camera comparison.

As for the battery, the OnePlus 6 has the bigger battery with 3300mAh whereas the Vivo X21 has a 3200mAh battery. Both smartphones are supported by Fast charging though in the case of the OnePlus 6, it’s Dash Charge.

An additional feature that the Vivo X21 has that the OnePlus 6 doesn’t is an in-display fingerprint scanner. They also differ in ports as the Vivo X21 has a USB 2.0 port and the OnePlus 6 has a Type-C port.
