With its Windows 10 operating system due to rollout later this year, Microsoft Corp will inset an automatic biometric sign-in option together with it. This as per announced by the company on Tuesday.

As the company think of ways to make PC experience via Windows 10 more personal, they developed a new feature as they want the devices to recognize its users, to understand what they are saying and experience to go wherever they go, and they want to feel a great sense of trust as the users go.

The feature to be dubbed as Windows Hello, will allow users to scan their face, iris or fingerprint to verify identity and access Windows phones, laptops and personal computers. It will not only be more convenient than typing a password—it’s more secure, said the company.

Users’ biometric data would be stored locally on the device and kept anonymous that would keep it safe from hackers.

Windows Hello will only be available on new devices that are capable of running the new feature. Chip-maker Intel Corp said all machines incorporating its RealSense F200 sensor will run Windows Hello.

If the device already has a fingerprint reader, user will be able to use Windows Hello to unlock that device. For facial or iris detection, Windows Hello uses a combination of special hardware and software to accurately verify it is the onwer and not just a picture of him or someone trying to impersonate. The cameras use infrared technology to identify the owner’s face or iris and can recognize him in a variety of lighting conditions.

The new feature is the latest innovation from Microsoft to make its products more acquiescent to natural interaction with users. Recently, the company launched its Kinect motion sensor for the Xbox game console and its Cortana personal assistant on Windows phones, as answer to its rival’ Sir by Apple Inc.
